Pinnacles park fees in 2026

A$17 gets a car of up to 12 people into Nambung National Park for the day, Pinnacles loop included. Here is every 2026 fee, when a pass pays off, and why some websites still say A$15.

The Pinnacles are one of the cheapest big sights in Western Australia. There is no per-person ticket for a normal car, no timed entry and no booking. You pay at the gate house on the road into Pinnacles Desert Discovery and drive on.

The figures here come from DBCA's entry fee page, last updated on 20 August 2026, and its online pass shop. Older pages online still quote the 2021 prices.

The quick answer

Entry in 2026 is A$17 per vehicle with 12 or fewer people (A$10 concession), A$10 per motorcycle, and A$8 per person in a larger vehicle. Walkers and cyclists pay nothing. One day fee covers other DBCA parks visited the same day, such as Yanchep or Lesueur. A 5-day Holiday Pass costs A$30 and the annual All Parks Pass A$130 (A$80 concession). Most Pinnacles day tours list park entry as included.

How much is the Pinnacles entry fee in 2026?

A$17 per car with up to 12 people, or A$10 with an eligible concession card. Motorcycles pay A$10, and vehicles with 13 or more people pay A$8 a head.

Those are DBCA's figures on its park entry fees page, and no change has been announced. The fee is per vehicle, not per person, which makes it a bargain for a full car: four friends pay A$4.25 each.

Concessions are for holders of Australian-issued cards only, says DBCA's concessions page: the Seniors Card, the Age, Disability Support and Carer pensions, DVA cards and the Companion Card. Overseas seniors cards don't count. Seen a US$30 fee? That belongs to Pinnacles National Park in California.

Why do some websites still say the Pinnacles cost A$15?

Because A$15 was the fee in 2021. DBCA's August 2021 brochure listed A$15 per car, and Australia's Coral Coast still shows those old prices in its FAQ.

The Coral Coast FAQ gives A$15 a day, A$8 concession, A$8 for a motorcycle, and holiday and annual passes at their 2021 rates. All of it matches DBCA's 2021 fees brochure. Blogs and booking sites copied it, and the number stuck.

Two dollars won't break anyone's trip. Pass prices moved more, though, so check the source before you budget a month of parks: exploreparks.dbca.wa.gov.au and shop.dbca.wa.gov.au.

Is a WA park pass worth it for the Pinnacles?

Only if you visit fee-paying parks on two or more separate days. A 5-day Holiday Pass costs A$30, less than two A$17 day fees.

The DBCA shop sells Holiday Passes for 5 days, 14 days and 4 weeks, and annual passes. Each covers one vehicle with up to 12 legally seated people. Passes are digital, non-transferable and non-refundable; print yours and display it on the dashboard. In a hire car, type HIRE VEHICLE as the registration. RAC WA members get a discount, and passes are also sold at the Discovery Centre and the Turquoise Coast Visitor Centre in Jurien Bay.

Remember the same-day rule. Yanchep in the morning and the Pinnacles in the afternoon is one A$17 fee, not two, so a pass only pays when your park days are spread out. Passes don't cover camping or some attractions, such as certain caves and the Tree Top Walk.

How do you pay the Pinnacles entry fee?

At the gate house on the road into Pinnacles Desert Discovery, when you arrive. No booking is needed.

The DBCA Nambung visitor guide puts day-pass sales at the gate house. Across its parks, DBCA takes fees at staffed entry stations (cash or card, some cash only), automated card pay stations, or self-registration with cash in an envelope and no change given. Carry a card and some cash.

One fee covers the whole park that day: the loop drive, the Desert View Walk, Lake Thetis and Hangover Bay. Big rigs need a plan. Vehicles longer than 7 m, caravans and trailers are not allowed on the loop; park them in the long-vehicle bays.

The one-way loop drive is part of the vehicle fee, and a 2WD hire car is fine.

Can you ride a motorbike or bicycle around the Pinnacles loop?

Not any more, according to Trails WA, which lists the Pinnacles Drive as closed to all motorbikes and bicycles from Tuesday 30 September 2025. We found this on that one source only.

The note sits on the Trails WA page for the drive. As of October 2026, the DBCA pages we checked don't mention it, and DBCA still lists the A$10 motorcycle fee, which covers entry to the park rather than the loop alone. Riders can still reach Lake Thetis, Hangover Bay and Kangaroo Point.

Before you ride up, call the Discovery Centre on (08) 9652 7913 or the Jurien Bay Parks and Wildlife office on (08) 9688 6000. Walking in is free, and the 1.5 km Desert View Walk takes you among the pillars on foot.

Do Pinnacles tours include the park entry fee?

Most do. Six of the seven day tours on this site list national park entry among their inclusions, so the gate is not an extra cost.

What a tour sells is the driving, the guide and the food. For two people in a hire car, self-drive costs A$17 at the gate plus fuel, against at least US$121 each on a tour. For a solo traveller without a car, the sums flip. Our tours compared guide goes through each one.
